” I’ve learned that there are many rough moments in life, ones that will either make or break you. Moments that will create the person you become. With every rejection or “failure” comes knowledge and wisdom. The only time the word failure comes into play is when you quit. Either you “win or learn”. I will never stop trying to pursue my goals.

Along the way, there is something I never forget, to be myself. The key to life is being true to yourself and spreading love to everyone. Just like Marianna Williamson once said, “As we let our own light shine, we unconsciously give others permission to do the same”.

Be Yourself, Stay Humble, & Smile “

Just want to share this to everyone, I read this a couple of times when I was feeling down and kinda not sure of whats happening around me. It was a terrible week and I never felt so anxious and down but reading this helped me, it gave me motivation and rethink everything. Yes they are right, it’s about perspective on how are we going to see and reflect to the bad situations we encounter. I love the message of it,  we can’t avoid failure and rejection cause it’s already part of our lives but the only thing that we will change it on how are we going to accept it. We cant let those failures and rejection to bring us down but we need those to make ourselves a better person. The guy who wrote this is so optimistic and happy, I just want to be like him. To stop worrying and just be positive about everything that is happening to me and still doesn’t  forget what goals I want to achieve in life.

My Favorite Movie Soundtracks

  1.  The Fault in our Stars

My all time favorite! So far this soundtrack is still on my top spot. Songs from Birdy, Jake Bugg, Charlie XCX, M83, Kodaline, Indians and a special song written by Ed Sheeran. Yes! This soundtrack couldn’t be more perfect. I love every single song on this album which also reminds me the story of Gus and Hazel.

Favorite Tracks: Everything on this soundtrack except Bomfalleralla.

RATE: 10/10

2. If I Stay

I wasn’t expecting the soundtrack to be a good one but after I seen the movie, I immediately searched for the soundtrack and listened to it. Been listening to the songs for more than a week and I fell in love with a fictional band called “Willamette Stones” *sigh*. The moment I want them to be a real band because I love the songs they made for the movie and you want them to see play these songs live. Also I love the sound of the cello especially on the song Today, I love the cello, the guitar everything and it still gives me the If I Stay feels.

Favorite Tracks: Heart Like Yours, Today, Heal,  Promise, I Never Wanted To Go

RATE: 9.5/10

3. Me Before You

The ‘Me Before You’ soundtrack includes songs by  Max Jury, HOLYCHILD, Jesse Ware, Jack Garrat, Cloves, X Ambassadors, The 1975, Ed Sheeran, and  Imagine Dragons. The music chosen was absolutely perfect and really helped to bring out the emotions and heartbreak of the story. Listening to the soundtrack will still give you the roller coaster feeling of the story.

Favorite Tracks: Not Today, Photograph, Unsteady and Don’t Forget About Me

RATE: 9/10

4. Paper Towns

This soundtrack was good but not as good as the first two on my list. I was expecting more maybe because TFIOS was so perfect, its like a star-studded soundtrack. I still love the soundtrack though because songs from HAIM, Vampire Weekend, Vance Joy ( they didn’t include Smile on the list though) and my first time to hear a song from Nat and Alex Wolff.

Favorite Tracks: To The Top, Falling, Runaway, Great Summer and Look Outside.

RATE: 8/10

The Divergent Series: Allegiant

Allegiant is based on the Divergent series of books by Veronica Roth. It is the sequel to Divergent (2014) and Insurgent (2015) and it will precede Ascendant in 2017.

After the revelation in Insurgent that post-apocalyptic Chicago was walled off as an experiment by those on the outside world, the remaining factions descend into chaos. The remaining members of the Erudite faction are put on mock trials and executed, and Tris’ brother Caleb is scheduled to be judged next.

Frustrated that his mother Evelyn has now taken over as dictator, Four begins to plot a way to get over the city walls with Tris and find out who, or what, lies on the other side. However, Tris decides to break Caleb free first. Her action puts all of the remaining factions hot on their trail as they race for the wall. Tori, Peter, and Christina join their group along the way.

As they make it to the other side, they find a wasteland destroyed by war. But in their search, they run across the people that built the Chicago experiment in the first place and their technology is centuries more advanced than they ever suspected. Tris learns that she’s the key to all of their efforts, but at what cost to mankind?

For me its a good movie but a terrible movie adaptation. Divergent was a good start then Insurgent was a bit off the book but Allegiant is way more off than the last one. They changed a lot of stuff and some of the characters from the book are missing. There are a lot of characters and events in the book that will make the movie a lot more better but they chose to do it differently which made the adaptation more awful. Yes, the effects are kinda good and the actors were great but still it doesn’t change how crappy and predictable the story is. As a big fan of Veronica Roth’s series, I’m disappointed with this adaptation. I wanted the movie to be good as the book but sadly I didn’t do it justice

Well, for those who haven’t read the book but like the first two films, I think you’ll like this but the book is way better. And I still don’t see a need for splitting the last book into two movies. I hope they wont change the ending though.

I watched the movie adaptation of The Choice last night, another Chick Flick movie based on the best-selling novel of Nicholas Sparks with the same title.

Synopsis:  Travis Shaw (Benjamin Walker) is a vet, living in small coastal town Wilmington, who falls in love on his first meeting with Gabby Holland (Teresa Palmer), who has moved in to the house next door. Gabby is a medical student who is in a relationship with a fellow doctor, Ryan McCarthy (Tom Welling). With Ryan overseas, Gabby and Travis spend more time together, starting a relationship. Ryan returns, and is keen to resume his relationship with Gabby. Unsure of her feelings, Gabby tells Travis that their relationship wasn’t necessarily serious, but eventually Gabby and Travis get back together and marry. Over the course of the next few years they have two children and become a happy family.

One evening, after a dinner to which Travis has failed to show due to a work emergency, Gabby drives back home but is involved in an accident with another car. She survives but is now in a coma, which seems permanent. Three months later, Travis is asked to give permission to turn off the life support, as the chances of her waking up again have reduced to 1%. Travis refuses to make this choice. One day, he comes to the clinic and finds her awake again. He takes her home, and they continue to lead their happy life.

I’ll keep my review short and straight. As usual it’s about a love story of a cocky good-looking country boy who fell in love with a girl and then some accident happened. A typical Nicholas Sparks movie if you know what I mean. I was a bit surprised, I thought its going to be a sad ending but they chose to have the Sappy one. The actors were great and the soundtrack is good. For me this movie is better than “The Longest Ride” , still a predictable love story. It’s still a good chick flick movie and will recommend it if you want to have a cheesy night.

This movie will make you realize about The Choices you make on your everyday life, every single choices even the small one has a big effect on us, on our lives. We must know how to make the right choices, follow your heart and what you know is right.

“It was inevitable for people to try to create a sense of normalcy in a place where nothing was normal. It helped one get through the day, to add predictability to a life that was inherently unpredictable.”

Food Alert!

Finally, Banapple branch here in Pampanga! as they say. There’s a newly opened Banapple Branch here in Marquee Mall Pampanga, I think it’s the first branch here in the province. People are so stoked and excited about it, it’s all over my Facebook news feed so Me and my friend decided to try it out.

The branch wasnt that big, it’s a bit small like the Bonchon Branch in the mall. We have to wait for a bit to have a good seat.

MENU: Aside from Pies and Cheesecakes, they also serve Entrees, Salads and Soups, Sandwiches, Pastas and Pancakes. The price is affordable and not too expensive, and also they have Big servings for a single person to consume so the price is reasonable.

Here is the Menu for your reference if you want to try it.

I ordered one of their best sellers, Hickory Smoked Barbecued Country Ribs which only costs P220 and my friend tried Bacon Fried Chicken Steaks with Milk’shroom gravy which costs only P205.  For the drinks, we tried their Home Made Iced Tea that costs P70.  As what I said earlier. they have big servings for a single person to consume so maybe you can share especially if you’re not that hungry.

For the Pies and Cakes, we tried their best seller Banofee Pie that costs P115 per slice and we tried to order Dark Chocolate Tiramisu Cheesecake but it’s not available so we ordered Apple Crumble Caramel Pie instead that costs P120 per slice. They have big slices of cakes, you can share it with your friend. I love the Banofee Pie, it tastes so good and definitely a must try! For the Apple Crumble Pie, it was okay. I’m not a big fan of cinnamon and apples so I didn’t really appreciate it though I think if you’re into apple pies you’ll like it.

That’s all we ordered, we are so full we can’t even finish the cakes. So if you’re planning to go here make sure you’re hungry to finish it all. Haha

Banapple Rating:

Ambiance : 4/5

Service: 4/5

Food: 5/5

Last Wednesday was declared as a Non-working holiday here in Pampanga, Philippines in commemoration of the Mount Pinatubo volcanic tragedy. YAY NO WORK!! My friend and I decided to go out and watch movies. Its been months since the last time we met so that was the only day we had a free time to catch up with each other since we are both busy with our job. (Ugh, adult life). We met around 10AM so we can watch two movies, Me Before You and Now You See Me 2.

Me Before You starts at 11AM so we watched it first. We are excited to see this movie because we both read the book and also because of Emilia Clarke and Sam Clafflin, Khaleese and Finnick in one movie. Haha

The movie was 2 hours long so we came out right in time for lunch. We decided to try the newly opened stall “Banapple”. They have big servings here so we did our best to finish all the food we ordered. Hahaha. Check my blog entry about the restaurant here[x]

The next movie we will start at 3:20 so we have tons of time to kill. We spent time talking and catching up with our own lives and jobs now. Sometimes its good to have someone you can talk to and share a lot of stuff, it helps you relax and forgot the stress you have at work and at home. So after catching up and eating tons of food, we walked around the mall (window shopping taghirap walang pera saka para mapagpag ang kinain!)  while we wait for the time.

We chose Now You See Me because the first movie was so cool and it might be more awesome than the first one, Also I’m a big fan of Magic Tricks! Ill rather watch this than The Conjuring 2 Duh!

We need to go home early because we still have work tomorrow. Ugh. I had so much fun! It was a productive day , Its always great to spent some time with your close friends. And finally I can now cross these movies on my to-watch-list.

Calum Scott Shining!

I was bored and surfing the net, just watching random videos and I stumbled to a video of a guy named Calum Scott auditioning for Britain’s Got Talent. So I watched it and immediately caught my attention. He did his own rendition of “Dancing on my own” and I was stunned how good his voice. He sounds like a multi selling artist, Not surprised why Simon pushed the Golden Buzzer.

Watched all his videos on Britains Got Talent. For the Semi Finals, he did his own rendition of “We Don’t Have To Take Our Clothes Off” which he slayed! Its like the song was made for him to sing! He got through the Finals and got the highest votes that night! Again, Im not surprised!

For the Finals, He did “Diamonds” by Rihanna. He started the song a bit off and forgot a line of the song. I guess its just the nerves kicking in and making him so nervous. But upon the second half of the song he belted out his high pitch voice and killed it! I’m surprised that he just ended in 6th Place, I was expecting him to be part of Top 3!

Since I watched all his videos and I cant stop listening to his songs, I think I’m starting to be a fan of him. Haha So I searched him on Google and found out that no one signed him yet! Wow, I’m surprised that Simon haven’t signed him yet. I hope he`ll get signed soon because his talent is gold! I also found out that he released his first single, a studio version of “Dancing on my own” last January. His single charted on UK TOP HITS, iTunes and Billboard. He said hes now working and planning to release an EP with his original songs! Cant wait to see him get big and slay the music industry

You can stream his single on Spotify or buy it on iTunes.

Another heartbreaking movie adaptation hitting the big screen today, A story between a quirky funny girl and a paralyzed/disabled man who doesn’t want to live his life anymore. I also posted my review of the book, you can check it here[x].

Synopsis : Young and quirky Louisa “Lou” Clark (Emilia Clarke) moves from one job to the next to help her family make ends meet. Her cheerful attitude is put to the test when she becomes a caregiver for Will Traynor (Sam Claflin), a wealthy young banker left paralyzed from an accident two years earlier. Will’s cynical outlook starts to change when Louisa shows him that life is worth living. As their bond deepens, their lives and hearts change in ways neither one could have imagined.

I like it how they stay true to the book, they started the movie exactly how it is in the book. Though some stuff are missing but it didn’t really affect the whole story. These are the things I noticed missing from the movie.

1. The arguments between Clark and her sister Katrina.
2. Clark doesn’t want to work anymore when she found out about the 6 months agreement but Will’s mother begged her to continue working.
3. Will’s father is cheating to his Mom
4. Will’s sister being upset with his decision because it will give a bad reputation to their family.
5. Clark moving to his boyfriend flat
6. Clark was warned by her Mom that if she go and support Will decision, She’s cant no longer come home.

I understand these aren’t really necessary and the movie run is already 2 hours they cant fit everything.

Emilia Clarke did very well! She did justice to her character, she made everyone laugh and love the character of Louisa Clark. Same with Sam Clafflin he portrayed the arrogant and being miserable man well. These two are very good actors so I expected them to just slay it and they did! And also the chemistry between them is undeniable, it wasn’t forced, it was earned every scene. Remember when I said how I hate Patrick when I read the book? I felt the same when I watched the movie! Haha

The movie is already 2 hours long but the story felt a bit rushed. There are some dull moments but mostly people are laughing because of Louisa. And also the soundtrack was good, love all the song though for me Unsteady and Photograph was on the wrong scenes, they should’ve used it on the heartbreaking parts to add more feels. The scene on the beach was good, oh my friend was sobbing on that part. Haha For me something missing on that scene, when I was reading that part on the book oh my heart, I felt every word they say to each other, I didn’t felt that maybe because I know what will happen but for me feels like something is missing. I really love how they started and ended the film.

Overall, the movie was good! The music, the cast were great. I heard everyone laugh and cry so I guess the adaptation did its justice. Is it better than TFIOS? For me No it wasn’t but its a good movie to see.

Me Before You Book Review

I saw the trailer of You Before Me on YouTube and watched it because Sam Claflin and Emilia Clarke are playing the main roles. So the trailer was heartbreakingly good well they used an Ed Sheeran track so it added more feels and also Imagine Dragons wrote a song for the movie. I got curious of the whole story of the movie so I searched it on the internet and read the sypnosis. I kinda like the story so I gave it a shot, I downloaded a copy and started reading it.

I finished almost half of the book on the first day I started it, I didn’t notice it so I decided to stop and continue it the next day. I don’t what to rush it because a. I’m currently enjoying it b. I don’t want to reach the ending yet cause I know it will break me. I’m starting to like the characters and the story, Louisa Clark’s personality is so interesting and funny. A lot of us can relate to her, the way she thinks about her life, her choices. Will Traynor was living and enjoying his life and suddenly everything changed because of an accident, you cant blame him for what he become, for being an arse at first and the choices he made. Louisa’s boyfriend Patrick is annoying, Hes not a good boyfriend to her and I just don’t like him.The book has different POVs aside from Louisa, there are POVs of Will’s and Louisa’s family and his boyfriend. Will doesn’t have his own POV on the book.

I finished the book the next day, I don’t know what to feel about it. Louisa and Will’s relationship is so adorable and cute and you just want it to continue but it obviously cant. The last few chapters are heartbreaking, The things Louisa planned for Will and every time she tears up is heartbreaking. The chapter where Louisa admitted her feelings and what she really wants for them broke my heart. Louisa explained her self well but Will’s answer are also on point. Well, you cant really blame Will for not changing his mind. You cant say he’s being selfish, hes not just doing it for himself but also for the people around him. You cant also blame Louisa for trying to change Will’s mind. He fell inlove with him, he taught him a lot of things she doesn’t know existed within her, she helped her grow into a different person. They both have a good point which makes it so hard and painful.

“All I can say is that you make me… you make me into someone I couldn’t even imagine. You make me happy, even when you’re awful. I would rather be with you – even the you that you seem to think is diminished – than with anyone else in the world.”

Damn this line fucked me up…

After what happened Louisa continued to live her life, he followed Will’s advice to have a life and there are lot of things to know than what she knows.

“I am conscious that knowing me has caused you pain, and grief, and I hope that one day when you are less angry with me and less upset you will see not just that I could only have done the thing that I did, but also that this will help you live a really good life, a better life, than if you hadn’t met me.

Don’t think of me too often. I don’t want to think of you getting all maudlin. Just live well. Just live.”

This novel was truly heart wrenching, there are points that it reminded me of Augustus and Hazel but this one is different. This book made me realize that there a lot more of this life can offer that we ever think of. We need to open our minds with possibilities, things we can do with our lives. We cant let ourselves be in a shell and be comfortable with it. And also that there are choices that we cant control, sometimes we just need to understand and accept it
especially in that situation.

“Push yourself. Don’t Settle. Just live well. Just LIVE.”

⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ 4/5 I’ll post a different entry about the trailer and soundtrack of the upcoming adaptation so watch out!

Sometimes we all need is to see a spark that will change things, our perspective, our mood. Life is tough and hard, sometimes you just have to let go of certain situations that aren’t in your control. That spark, even a small spark will give us hope that things might change for the better, tomorrow isn’t always better but it will be eventually. You’re so close to letting go of the ledge you’re holding onto so desperately but there’s just one thing that keeps you hanging on. We hold on to that spark and it will make keep us going, something that keep us to go forward.
